Hi baking fam, I’m Deo/Dd!

I’m so happy you’re here. Grab a cookie or mochi, take 2 mins, and let me introduce myself. 

Dd’s Bakery is also better known as my cosy little kitchen in beautiful Little Venice, London. For those who haven’t been to this side of town, it’s WELL worth a visit :)

My goal with this blog and bespoke bakery is to share my love of food and to inspire happiness, confidence and (natural) sugar-highs in others! 

My bakes are inspired by my British & Asian roots - 2 very different cultures, but altogether, very delicious. 

Here you’ll find tasty bakes, recipes and reviews to indulge your inner ‘foodie’ - yes, I’m sure if you’re here you didn’t need to look that hard to find it! All dishes are homemade, easy to follow and super delicious.

\\Like any Asian Kid, food itself is a universal love language. 

Growing up in a Chinese family, food was always a central part of my life. It was the most primary and natural way to show/share your love with your family, friends and community.

Funnily enough, I never really discovered the potential of baking until my first food tech class at aged 13, since ovens aren’t a typical part of Chinese cooking #thankyouschool lol 

…It was rather treated as additional storage 😂 To my Asian brothers and sisters our there, I'm sure you can relate!

Growing up with a Dad as a pro-chef, I saw that cooking was such an intriguing and natural art form. My dad is not one for recipe books or in-depth study, but he always made such delicious food. Everything looked so effortless. He always found and improved new recipes through chatting with his mum, aunt, or other distant family member. 

Yes baking fam, not everything of value can be found on Google! Sometimes the best way to innovate is to pick up the phone and have a chat with your fam! My beloved nan also had the same touch with food, in particular Chinese desserts, and for that I am so grateful.

\\As a savoury person, there is nothing I love better than baking sweet things! Surely, I’m not the only one? 👀

IMO, there is nothing better than a bucket of chips. However, when it comes to experimenting, trailing and testing-out recipes, I am ‘sweet’ all the way. And to be honest, I’ve never had much trouble getting rid of my ‘experiments’ along the way! 

My bakes draw inspiration from my heritage and the ever-growing plethora of GBBO-inspired culinary geniuses. 

\\I have contemplated starting this for a long time and I can’t wait to bake your own little ‘worlds’ a happier, more tasty place 🥰
